Much has already been written about Sunday’s controversial episode of Game of Thrones. The episode itself was actually rather dull—a lot of exposition and little action—but one particular scene has already garnered thousands of keystrokes, hundreds of outraged tweets, and…
Having not read much of the books I wasnt surprised because of this: They had Drago rape Danny in the tv show. In the books, your thinking its going to happen. And it dosnt exactly happen. While she is still a child bride, he does make the attempt to woo her. To not make it as scary. In the show he dosnt care he takes her because he can. She is still scared and he dose it anyway. So, no I’m not the least bit surprised when they have Jamie rape his sister on the floor beside their own, recently dead child. Because when we first meet this character he’s shoving a small child out a window to his hopeful death. I do agree, with the OP, that Cersei is as much responsible for the way Jamie turned out as is his father. And all three of them responsible for how Joffery turned out. Because lets be honest that child didn’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of being normal.
Now, does that mean that Cersei ‘deserved’ it? ABSOLUTELY NOT! And this is just piss poor story telling. And I can see how the convo went in the writers room. ‘how can we make the audience hate jamie more? Oh i know have him rape someone. but who? Briann would just chop it off before he got anywhere close. What about Cersei? No one will feel bad for her because she’s such a bad guy anyway. Perfect idea!’
*sigh* I really really wish this scene had never happened. I would have liked, even as much as i dislike Cersei, for her to have a tender moment. A bit of comfort from someone, because as nasty as he was Joffery was still her son. Because its really clear, that because of her own treatment of others, everyone gives less then a single shit about her. But it would have been nice. I could deal with out the sex, even if it had been consensual, like it was in the book, and just had Jamie holding her while she cried. To show her as a human, not just the nasty person we’ve seen her as.
If it were up to Shep, she and Garrus would adopt every Varren in the galaxy
